I'm also a mommy of three cute boys, a wife, author of "The Boy Who Loved Broccoli", vegan culinarian, partial raw foodist, children's health advocate and a former fashion designer. I'm tapping into my design skills to get creative in the kitchen now! I love experimenting with various combinations of healthy, whole foods to come up with vegan recipes for my family and friends. One of the best words to describe Kim Hostetter is that of a visionary. She has a vision and a passion in every project she undertakes; which is why she has such a strong desire and focus as a Wellness Educator to reach others who choose to be well through natural means. For the past six years Kim has studied and understood the need for this knowledge to reach people, and spreading this information and serving others has become the purpose for her life. Being involved in natural wellness stems from her own personal journey of reclaiming her health and the testimony of many others. Originally born in Alabama, she has lived and worked extensively throughout the U.S., in various positions, which has laid the foundations of her understanding of customs and people she now encompasses in her work. These life experiences and education have set the course for this path, as she has integrated her creative talents as a visual artist into her self-taught abilities as a raw food chef and culinary teacher. Chef Sara, Raw Food Master, Coach, Author & founder of the 3 Weeks Back to Health Program. I began my journey of discovering the disease-preventing and healing power of raw, plant-based food at the #1 alternative medicine facility in the world, Hippocrates Health Institute. I was so impressed with the program that I not only enrolled in the program immediately but also, upon graduation, I accepted an offer to work at the Institute. Dr. Brian Clement, director of HHI, offered me the opportunity to put into practice everything I had learned. This experience taught me the powers of consuming living foods that nourish, cleanse and alkalinize the body; the importance of food combination; and the powers of wheatgrass. During my stay at HHI, I have witnessed remarkable transformations of people’s health, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Conventional medicine doctors would call these recoveries from "terminal illnesses" a miracle. I, on the other hand, call it the power of raw, plant-based foods "God's Medicine". I believe the food we choose to consume plays a vital role in healing the body, mind, and soul. I had a personal experience with the deadly disease cancer. At my yearly checkup, the gynecologist told me I had cervical cancer and the growth was the size of a golf ball. I looked at her and smiled. Confused as to why I was smiling, she said, “Nobody smiles when I deliver this devastating news. Why are you smiling?” I looked in her eyes, and with a smile still on my face, I said, “Thank you for telling me. Now I can go home and do the right thing. I can assure you that within a month, it won’t be there.” When I told her what I was going to do to get rid of the cancer, she thought I was crazy. She didn’t believe it was possible, because all she knew was the traditional way of treating cancer with chemo and radiation. In my eyes, traditional medicine only puts a Band-Aid on the symptoms. It does not cure the cause, and therefore, most of the time, the disease returns. Without wasting time, I immediately started my detox with wheatgrass juice and green juices. Within a month of cleansing, I knew I had gotten rid of the cancer. I made an appointment to see my gynecologist, and when she examined me, she couldn’t see the tumor anymore. I couldn't help myself but say, “You see. I told you so.” Of course, she hated to be wrong, so she said, “Just because I don’t see it, that doesn’t mean that you got rid of it. The only way to know for sure is by doing a blood test.” I gave her my arm so she could draw blood, confident that the test would come back negative. And guess what? It did. She called it a miracle.

I have always loved to write and to eat but it wasn’t until I became a vegan that I learned (mostly out of necessity) to love to cook. Now, after a year of that, I am rapidly learning (all out of love) to “un-cook”. Going Raw has been a dream of mine, and while scary and not always well accepted amongst my friends and family, something I need to do for myself. My love for animals, this planet, and my own body demand that I do something drastic. One of my greatest dreams is that, some day, I will be able to study Raw cooking at the Living Light Culinary Institute and show the World how fulfilling a Raw lifestyle can be. I’m healthy by default” is what I generally say. In my young twenties I discovered that I was allergic to a myriad of foods such as wheat, corn, soy, processed sugar, and dairy. I have always loved to cook, so this was devastating news to me because it meant I could not make, or so I thought, all my favorite recipes. This diagnosis however, prompted me to look into raw vegan food preparation. I learned that with the right equipment, creativity, and ingredients, I could create healthier versions of the foods I used to love! I was completely fascinated with it and took classes to obtain my certification as a raw vegan instructor at Cousin’s Ivy Restaurant in my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. I then began teaching and coaching people in raw vegan food preparation. At the same time, I was in the process of obtaining my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. Upon completing my degree, I had to get real with myself. I loved teaching, but my first passion remained working with food to help people meet their health and wellness goals. As fate would have it, Whole Foods Market was opening positions around the US for “healthy eating specialists”. It was exactly what I wanted to do so I feverishly searched for openings all around the country. I knew that the first place that would hire me would be where I would move to. It was Houston, Texas. I had never been there before in my life, nor did I know anyone there. It was the right decision and I love my job! I am able to teach and work with food and be in my favorite store all at once. Ultimately, I want to teach larger volumes of people about healthy eating via television and media. As I move closer to that goal, I enjoy developing more recipes and skills to share with others so that they too can be aware of the joy and life changing experience that healthy eating provides.

Raquel Moreno is a culinary educator committed to helping people lead fulfilling lives starting with the foods they eat. A graduate of Georgetown University and The Culinary Institute of America, Raquel began her culinary career in bistros, fine dining restaurants and off-site catering companies of Washington, DC and New York’s Hudson Valley. Moreno had the privilege of living and developing her culinary craft in Italy with the team of the Rome Sustainable Food Project of the American Academy in Rome. She contributed to the development of an on-site chemical-free vegetable garden at Eastern, where fresh herbs, eggplant, peppers and tomatoes were grown for cafeteria and patient meals. Moreno worked closely with the nutrition department to develop appropriate menu items for the varying dietary needs of oncology patients and their caregivers. Moreno is the co-founder of La Nena Cooks Culinary Education and Consulting. She specializes in the design of educational programming to engage youth and adult groups with seasonal, local and organic fruits, vegetables and other health-promoting foods. I am a self-taught, home cook and stay at home mom who's cooking career has blossomed since deciding to leave my career as a project manager, martial arts instructor and personal trainer to raise my son. I believe that food should be easy, healthy, delicious and, most of all, FUN. I believe it's okay to have the occasional splurge, as long as you continually take care of yourself. I have had a passion for health and teaching health since I was a teenager. Healthy foods has been my passion. I now teach raw foods classes, juicing, sprouting and dehydrating along with being a health coach. I have an online website that is also educational. Michelle is a passionate raw food chef and instructor, a licensed holistic health practitioner, a certified lymphologist, and a mother of two. Her desire for helping others led to become a raw food chef. She mastered the art of using stevia in recipes. She is a pioneer in the sugar-free raw movement. Michelle worked for the Reversing Diabetes Program at the Weimar Institute and currently teaches sugar-free raw living in Sacramento, CA. Michelle earned her Raw Food Chef and Instructor certification from the world famous Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the prestigious United States Military Academy at West Point. After serving in the Army for 5 years (where she jumped out of airplanes and became a paratrooper), Michelle was honorably discharged for the medical condition “Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease,” meeting the criteria for Lupus. With that diagnosis, she began her long quest for answers. Through many years of studying and research, she found help through a vegan, sugar-free, mostly raw diet, as well as using alternative medicine. It helped her so much that she needed to share it with others who were also desperate for answers. She currently has a holistic health practice and teaches sugar-free raw food preparation classes. When she is not consulting with clients, or whipping something up in the kitchen, you will find Michelle power-walking or playing with her children.
